# Google’s new Gemini agent can create AI coworkers with their own email and calendar

Announced at Gemini at Work 2026, coworker agents get a Workspace account, Drive storage and a place in the company directory. Pricing for wider use is not out yet.

## What Google announced

Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian introduced the Gemini agent at Gemini at Work 2026 on 8 October.[^1] Google describes it as a single agent that answers questions, does knowledge work, creates images and media, and writes and runs code, through one interface and one API.[^1]

## Coworker agents

A team can describe a role it needs and Gemini creates a "coworker agent" for it.[^1] According to Google, the agent "receives its own Workspace account, including an email address, calendar, Drive, and presence in your company directory."[^1] Google says a coworker agent acts under its own identity rather than a person's, and sees only what people share with it.[^1]

## Controls for IT teams

Google says every agent has a cryptographically attested identity with least-privilege permissions, and every action is written to an audit trail attributed to the agent.[^1] Agents run inside an Agent Sandbox, and their traffic passes through Agent Gateway, which Google calls an AI network firewall.[^1] Admins can set a hard limit on a project's AI spend; when the limit is hit, that project's agent pauses.[^1]

## Models

Google says the agent works across its Gemini models and Anthropic's Claude models today, with other private and open models planned.[^1]

## Availability and price

VentureBeat reports a private preview for select customers starting 8 October, included at no extra charge where Gemini Enterprise is available.[^2] Google's announcement does not give a general availability date or full pricing for coworker agents.[^1] VentureBeat says Google will share more pricing details closer to wider release.[^2]
