# Nvidia’s RTX Spark brings Windows laptops with up to 128GB of unified memory, on sale from 16 October

Announced with Microsoft on 7 October, the chip pairs an Nvidia Grace CPU with a Blackwell GPU. Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Ultra starts at $2,599.

**In short:** Nvidia and Microsoft announced RTX Spark on 7 October 2026, a chip for Windows laptops and small desktops with up to a 20-core Grace CPU, a 6,144-core Blackwell GPU and 128GB of unified memory. Laptops go on sale on 16 October.

## What was announced

Nvidia and Microsoft announced RTX Spark, a chip for Windows laptops and compact desktops, at a Microsoft event in San Francisco on 7 October 2026.[^1] Laptop pre-orders opened that day and laptops go on sale on 16 October. Compact desktops follow in November.[^1][^2]

## The chip

Nvidia says RTX Spark combines:[^1]

- a Blackwell RTX GPU with up to 6,144 GPU cores,
- an Nvidia Grace CPU with up to 20 cores,
- up to 128GB of unified memory shared by both, with a 600 GB/s link between CPU and GPU.

Nvidia quotes up to one petaflop of FP4 AI compute.[^1] TechRepublic notes this is a theoretical peak figure and not a measure of performance across all workloads.[^2] The chip was known earlier by its codename, N1X.[^2]

## Who is making PCs

Nvidia lists Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, MSI and Gigabyte.[^1] Microsoft’s Surface Laptop Ultra has a 15-inch mini-LED touchscreen. It starts at $2,599 with an 18-core CPU, 5,120 GPU cores, 24GB of memory and a 512GB SSD; the top model with 128GB of memory is $5,899.[^2][^3]

## Agents on Windows

Microsoft also made Microsoft Execution Containers (MXC) generally available. Nvidia describes it as part of Windows that lets AI agents run in the background under operating-system control, working with Microsoft Security and Agent 365.[^1] “We needed to make the desktop the most secure place for agents to execute,” Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said, as quoted by Nvidia.[^1]

## Running models on the laptop

Microsoft says the platform can run models with more than 120 billion parameters on the device.[^2] Nvidia also previewed a DGX Station for Windows with 748GB of memory, with no price or date yet.[^1]

## India

No India prices or launch dates were announced in the sources we checked.
