Research note
Research note: Apple discloses deal to hire team and license technology from AI podcast start-up Huxe
How we checked what Apple’s EU filing about Huxe says, and what it leaves out.
What we set out to check
What Apple disclosed, where, when, and whether a price or plan was given.
What we found
- TechCrunch quotes the filing: job offers to certain Huxe employees and a non-exclusive licence to its IP.
- MLex separately reports Apple notified the Commission in June.
- Neither gives a deal value or Apple’s plans.
Numbers that differ
MLex’s headline says Apple planned to “buy” Huxe. The filing wording quoted by TechCrunch describes hiring and a licence rather than a purchase. We use the filing wording.
Labels we chose and why
- Reported for the filing details, carried by two outlets.
- Unconfirmed for the 21 May shutdown date, which we saw only in TechCrunch.
What we could not verify
- The filing itself on the Commission’s website.
- What Apple will build.
What we searched
- Apple Huxe European Commission filing
- Huxe AI podcast shut down NotebookLM
- Apple Digital Markets Act acquisition notification Huxe
