Research note
Research note: Google’s new Gemini agent can create AI coworkers with their own email and calendar
How we checked what Google announced about the Gemini agent and coworker agents, using Google’s own post first.
What we set out to check
What the Gemini agent is, what coworker agents get, what controls exist, and what is still unknown about availability and price.
What we found
- Google’s post, dated 8 October 2026 and written by Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian, describes the Gemini agent and coworker agents.
- Google states that a coworker agent “receives its own Workspace account, including an email address, calendar, Drive, and presence in your company directory.”
- Google lists controls: attested identity, least-privilege access, an audit trail, Agent Sandbox, Agent Gateway and hard spending caps.
Labels we chose and why
- Product details are Confirmed from Google’s own post.
- The private preview at no extra charge is Unconfirmed: it comes from one report, VentureBeat, and is not in Google’s post.
What we could not verify
- A general availability date.
- Full pricing for coworker agents.
