Research note
Research note: Intel launches GPU D270 for AI inference with up to 480GB of memory on one card
How we checked the Intel GPU D270’s specs against Intel’s product page and two outlets, and which figures only one source gives.
What we set out to check
The card’s name, memory, compute, power, software support, availability and price.
What we found
- Intel’s page confirms 480GB LPDDR5X, 350W, air cooling, PCIe 5.0, 32 Xe3P cores and 256 XMX engines.
- StorageReview and Phoronix both report the launch at OCP on 12 October.
Numbers that differ
Coverage says “480GB per card”, but StorageReview reports Intel’s own card has 160GB and 480GB comes from partner cards. We say “up to 480GB” and explain.
Labels we chose and why
- Confirmed for specs on Intel’s page.
- Company claim for FP8 compute and bandwidth, which we saw only in one report of Intel’s presentation.
- Unconfirmed for sampling status, from one outlet.
What we could not verify
- Price and shipping date.
- Independent performance tests.
What we searched
- Intel GPU D270 Crescent Island OCP Summit
- Intel D270 480GB LPDDR5X 1.3 PFLOPS
- Intel GPU D-Series Phoronix
