Research note: Nvidia’s RTX Spark brings Windows laptops with up to 128GB of unified memory, on sale from 16 October

How we checked RTX Spark’s specs and dates against Nvidia’s post, and Surface Laptop Ultra prices against two outlets.

What we set out to check

The chip’s specs, launch dates, which companies make PCs, Surface prices, and anything for India.

What we found

  • Nvidia’s post gives the specs, dates and PC makers.
  • Two outlets give the same Surface Laptop Ultra price range from Microsoft’s store listing.

Numbers that differ

TechRepublic lists prices ending in .99 ($2,599.99 and $5,899.99); TweakTown lists $2,599 and $5,899. We use the rounded figures.

Labels we chose and why

  • Confirmed for Nvidia’s own specs and dates.
  • Company claim for the one-petaflop figure, a theoretical peak.
  • Reported for Surface prices, carried by two outlets.

What we could not verify

  • India pricing and availability. None of the sources we read mentioned India, so the story says so plainly.
  • Independent performance tests, which reviewers had not published when we checked.

What we searched

  • Nvidia N1X RTX Spark laptop Windows Microsoft announcement
  • Surface Laptop Ultra price RTX Spark
  • Microsoft Execution Containers MXC general availability
