Research note
Research note: OpenAI lists an unannounced GPT-Rosalind life sciences model on its API pricing page
How we checked whether OpenAI has listed a new GPT-Rosalind model and what is known about it.
What we set out to check
Whether gpt-rosalind-discovery really appears on OpenAI's pricing page, its price, and whether OpenAI has explained it.
What we found
- The pricing page lists gpt-rosalind-discovery beside gpt-rosalind-research at the same prices.
- OpenAI's GPT-Rosalind post, including its September update, does not mention a discovery model.
- TestingCatalog reported that no blog post, help article or system card exists for the new model.
Numbers that differ
None. The prices on the pricing page match those reported by TestingCatalog.
Labels we chose and why
- Confirmed for the listing and prices, which we read on OpenAI's own page.
- Unconfirmed for the absence of documentation, which rests on TestingCatalog's check, although we also found none.
- Unknown for what the model does.
What we could not verify
- The model's purpose, capabilities or release date.
- Whether it is already usable by approved organisations.
What we searched
- gpt-rosalind-discovery OpenAI
- OpenAI API pricing life sciences models
- Introducing GPT-Rosalind OpenAI
