Our own record, counted by the site from its database every time this page loads. Nothing here is typed by hand. If a number looks bad for us, it stays.

How these numbers are counted
- Updates are new versions of a story that add facts. Corrections are new versions that fix something we got wrong. Both are listed on each story and corrections also in the corrections log.
- Average time to correct is measured from when the story was first published to when the correction went live, because we do not always know when an error was first noticed.
- Archived copies are made on the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine. Some sites block archiving, so some sources will never have a copy.
- Only published stories are counted. Stories held back by our publishing rules are not.
