Question

What we set out to check

What the court decided, what the NAACP alleges, and what happens next.

Findings

What we found

Both outlets agree the court denied xAI's motion and rejected the mobile-source defence. TechCrunch names the judge and quotes the ruling; DeSoto County News names the court and the Southaven site and reports the pending injunction.

Discrepancies

Numbers that differ

TechCrunch cites the plaintiffs' claim of at least 35 turbines; DeSoto County News says "dozens"; another outlet we did not use says 27. We give the plaintiffs' figure as their claim. TechCrunch describes the data centre as outside Memphis; the plant itself is in Southaven.

Method

Labels we chose and why

Reported for the ruling. Claim for the turbine count and emissions, which are allegations. Unconfirmed for the pending injunction and penalties, from one outlet.

Open questions

What we could not verify

The court order itself.

Can you help confirm one of these? Send us a source. When we find an answer, we update this note and the story, with the date.

Next steps

How we could improve this

Read the order on the court docket and add xAI's response if it comments.
