Question

What we set out to check

How the guarantee would work, why Anthropic matters to it, and what risks the site faces.

Findings

What we found

Both outlets cite The Information and Bloomberg, describe a residual value guarantee and the 460 MW building, and say nothing is signed. TNW adds the flooding, violation notices and Nscale finances.

Discrepancies

Numbers that differ

TechCrunch cites $44.6 billion for the first building from Nscale's filing; TNW says about $45 billion. We give both. One outlet we did not use names $5 billion for the guarantee; we leave the amount as unknown.

Method

Labels we chose and why

Reported for the talks and deal sizes. Unconfirmed for site violations and Nscale finances, from TNW only.

Open questions

What we could not verify

The Information and Bloomberg originals, which are paywalled.

Can you help confirm one of these? Send us a source. When we find an answer, we update this note and the story, with the date.

Next steps

How we could improve this

Read the original reports and Nscale's IPO filing, and update if a guarantee is signed.
