OpenAI brings GPT-6 to all ChatGPT users and adds interactive “Intelligent UI” answers

What OpenAI announced

OpenAI said on 7 October 2026 that it is bringing GPT-6 models to everyday conversations in ChatGPT.¹ The first GPT-6 models reached paid customers the month before.¹²

• GPT-6 Sol is rolling out in the Chat tab for Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users.¹²
• GPT-6 Luna reaches Free and Go users from the next day.¹²
• For Enterprise, availability depends on workplace admin settings.¹ OpenAI says the models used in ChatGPT Work and Codex are not changing.¹

What “Intelligent UI” means

ChatGPT can now answer with interactive parts, not only text: graphics, tappable buttons, forms, charts and small tools that work inside the chat.¹² OpenAI says the layout depends on the question. A comparison may appear side by side and an explanation may become an interactive diagram, while plain text is still used when it works best.¹ Examples OpenAI gives include a bill splitter, a retirement calculator and a simple game.¹²

OpenAI says it built a library of components that can stream, and a compiler that draws the interface while the model is still writing.¹ 9to5Mac notes that GPT-6 can also start answering while it is still reasoning.²

Speed claims

OpenAI says that, in its own tests, GPT-6 Instant starts answering 44% sooner on average than GPT-5.6 Instant on questions that need web search.¹ This is a company figure that has not been checked independently.

Safety

OpenAI says GPT-6 is better at resisting multi-turn attempts to get around its safety training, has updated training for high-risk misuse such as cyberattacks and biological threats, and tries to avoid refusing harmless requests.¹ It points to a full system card for details.¹

What is not clear yet

The announcement does not list message limits for each plan, and OpenAI says the model’s design judgement still needs work.¹ The page also mentions several model names, including Sol, Luna, Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol, without fully explaining how they relate inside ChatGPT.¹

What it means for you

If you use ChatGPT for free or on the Go plan, GPT-6 Luna should appear from 8 October. Rollouts happen in stages, so it may take some time to reach every account.
